Located outside of Lebanon Ohio, Maple Grove Farm owner, Dan Berger, has been carefully crafting the real-deal maple syrup for over 24 years. Starting off with 32 maple tree taps and a small portable evaporator, today he has 850 taps and an 8 foot evaporator equipped with steam!
Dan prides himself by keeping things traditional. He doesn’t use any modern technology during the crafting of his syrup (or the advertising of his product). He and his helpers collect maple tree sap by hand and use wood fired evaporators. They pay attention to every detail of the labor intensive labor of love, and enjoy themselves while doing so.
“Tubing, reverse osmosis and oil fired evaporators save a lot of labor, but we believe that old-fashioned methods produce a higher quality syrup with ALL the flavor complexities intact, and our customers agree!” – Dan Berger
Like hand-crafted wine or home-baked bread, real 100% maple syrup made the old-fashioned way is a superior culinary product that celebrates the bounty which comes from careful use of the earth.
